If you are a foodie, you would be totally into this wedding. Alix and Jeff chose celebrate their wedding at The Mellwood Arts Center. A beautiful tent was erected and the courtyard was transformed into an amazingly beautiful setting by Fleur de Lis Events. As the guests arrived to the wedding, there were all kinds of yummy treats to nibble on, courtesy of Cake Flour. Alix walked in on the arm of her father to a full house; it was packed and the guests were excited to watch as Jeff and Alix exchanged their vows. At the reception, there were so many things to keep the guests entertained, there was not a dull moment. While everyone was enjoying their dinner, Fluer di Lis and GoGetIt Events transformed the courtyard into a dessert lovers paradise. There were cake pops, custom bourbon candies, adorable jugs of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla milk with custom donuts. And if all that sugar wasn’t enough to excite you, the Comfy Cow was there to provide root beer floats. And to top off a night of fun and dancing, White Castles were delivered later in the evening for the guests who needed to fulfill that craving;) It was a wedding that will not soon be forgotten and you can see that Alix and Jeff are surrounded by so many people in their lives that were there to help them celebrate the start of their new life together.

Now for something a little different from our last few films. If you don’t at least have a smile on your face when you finish watch Micah and Matt’s highlights film, you may need to have your funny bone checked. I can honestly say that the hardest part of filming with Matt and Micah all day was holding the camera still because Dennis and I were both laughing so hard! I think that anyone could see that these two people are perfectly suited for each other. When we arrived at The Olmsted, Micah was getting ready and I happened to catch her telling the Bucket of Chicken story. As the day progressed on, it was funny to see how many times chicken presented itself into the conversation. But I digress.

Micah had given me a heads up about her and Matt’s outgoing personalities and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their day. Not only were Micah and Matt fun and a little crazy; their friends and family were the same. We had to be on our toes because there was always someone doing something that we needed to capture. Once the ceremony was finished, all the guests moved into the dining room where Micah’s Uncle Robert gave a very touching blessing over the bread before dinner. Rather than having a huge wedding cake, Micah and Matt chose to have a small wedding cake; complete with His and Hers Yeti cake toppers. After they cut their cake, smaller cakes were taken to every table to share. And there were LOTS of flavors available. I thought this was such a personal touch because guests were passing the cake around and interacting with each other while they were sharing their desserts.

Micah and Matt’s first dance started out like any other but they had to add their own personal spin on it and make it lots of fun. You can catch a glimpse of Matt as he twirls around Micah on the dance floor. The guests loved it! They had selected V Groove to provide the entertainment for their wedding reception. If you have never heard this band, THEY ARE AMAZING!! They had everyone out dancing all night long and they sounded great! I couldn’t help but be impressed when it was time for the Horah. The lead singer told me he’d only learned the words the night before; they’d never performed it before. If you would have been there, you would have never know that V Groove was pulling a first. If Matt and Micah’s wedding day is an indication, 2012 is going to be a blast!

This was one of the sweetest weddings we have every had the honor of filming. The day that we spent with Matt and Morgan last month was so much fun and there was so much emotion throughout the day that I knew their highlights film was going to be a challenging one to edit. I can honestly say that it only took about 2 days of editing before I could watch the footage without tearing up myself!
The Henry Clay is such a cool venue for a wedding because there are some great spots inside to make some great images but it’s also right in the heart of Downtown Louisville, so you have access to some really cool spaces. Working with Michelle and Shane (Studio E Photography) we found a really beautiful place for Morgan and Matt to have their first look. Matt and Morgan have such warm and wonderful personalities and we were able to be really creative and have a lot of fun. We even found random Elvis’ around and as you will see, Matt just couldn’t resist the drawing power of The King;)
The ceremony was so incredibly touching and at one point, I am sure there was not a dry eye in the room. I had been told ahead of time that Morgan had prepared a special vow for Zoe, but I don’t think anything could have prepared me for how powerful and emotional that moment would be. It’s definitely one I won’t forget any time soon.
The reception was jam-packed with entertainment, from Matt playing with his band, to the flash mob dance to the Justin Bieber duet that Matt and Zoe sang (I had asked ahead of time which Bieber song they were going to sing and Matt said, “Does he have more than one?”LOL!). I know that this is just a little peak of everything that was Matt and Morgan’s wedding day, but there will be more to be had when their feature film is ready.

Kristina and Marty have been together so long that it became a joke that they would get engaged when pigs fly. Well, I guess that if you weren’t paying attention on January 20, 2010, you probably missed seeing those pigs flying overhead. And less that two years later Kristina and Marty finally exchanged vows in front of their family and friends at St. Elizabeth’s of Hungary Catholic Church. The ceremony was so very personal as Marty and Kristina chose to write their own vows and Marty’s uncle was the priest who married them. Obviously, family is very important to these two.
Kristina spent a lot of her time and energy transforming the Mellwood Arts Center into an amazingly beautiful fall themed wonderland. I promise you, this bride could give Martha Stewart a run for her money! The detail and the amount of work that she put into her wedding day blew my mind. There was a table with rocks painted with the guests names and table numbers. The tables were named after one of the many concerts that Kristina and Marty had attended over the last 10 years. They had set up an incredible table with photographs of parents and grandparents on their wedding days. Lots of people stopped by to look at all the amazing pictures. She even decorated the bathrooms; seriously, she found toilet paper with little brides and grooms on it and put a roll in every stall! So it was a good thing that they had rented out Mellwood until the wee hours of the morning, because once the guests ate, took their turn in the photo booth, picked up a caramel apple, stopped at the candy buffet, left their thumb print on the canvas and stepped outside for a cigar, there was still lots of dancing to be done. The band Fusionary started the night off with a bang to be followed up by the guys from Sound Specialists. This was truly a wedding I won’t forget for a long time and we are so glad that we were there to capture this amazing day!

We have been so very lucky because every outdoor wedding that we have had the pleasure of filming this year has had beautiful weather. Renee and Jordan’s wedding day at The Water Tower was no different. It was a beautiful fall evening for an outdoor wedding at sunset. Renee and Jordan chose not to see each other before the ceremony started and I had a feeling that there were going to be some strong emotional reactions. Often, I think that groom’s don’t realize how much they are anticipating that moment. When a groom is standing at the altar waiting for his bride to make the first appearance at the end of the aisle, sometimes it is a lot more overwhelming than he ever realizes it was going to be and the emotions just take over. I absolutely love this moment! It’s so organic and real. You can’t make this kind of reaction happen; sometimes it just comes out and there is no stopping it. Jordan had one of these overwhelming reactions and I think it was so beautiful:) You could see him smiling through his tears as Renee made her way down the aisle on the arm of her father. Rather than lighting a unity candle or pouring sand, after they exchanged their vows and rings, Renee and Jordan chose to release butterflies into the sky. AMAZING!!
After the ceremony, the celebration moved inside for dinner, drinks and dancing. Renee’s talented maid of honor actually sang the song for Renee and Jordan’s first dance as husband and wife. Once the main events were completed, the wedding guests joined in the festivities on the dance floor and stayed out there for the rest of the night. It was a rockin’ good time!

For over a year, Ashley has been eagerly awaiting this highlights film. When Ashley and Josh first chose us to film their wedding day, I had the pleasure of meeting with her parents as well. I got to see first hand, what loving and outgoing people they all were. As we went over the details of their wedding day, I knew that there were going to be great opportunities to really capture Ashley and Josh’s personalities.
Ashley mentioned that she wanted to have her first look with Josh in front of church, so when we arrived, that was our fist priority. When Ashley tapped Josh on the shoulder, it was all smiles and laughter; and that continued throughout the rest of the evening.
They held their reception at Bluegrass Entertainment Center, also known as Hillbilly Heaven. Ashley and Josh had told us they had prepared a special Evolution of Dance for their first dance. They had not prepared us for how AWESOME it was! They really did an amazing job and they planned the whole thing by themselves-Impressive! Ashley’s new father-in-law, the best man, delivered one of the funniest toasts I think I have heard-EVER. I won’t give away any details, but I heard Ashley telling Josh’s dad, “You just made my night!” Be sure to check out the groom’s cake, especially if you happened to be a fan of the Ghostbusters; too cool! It was an incredibly fun night and we are so glad that we were there to capture all the fun and amazing people that were involved in making Ashley and Josh’s day a huge success.

Brittany and Clay’s wedding day was full of many unique touches and experiences for us. I can honestly say that I have never laughed so hard when a bride was putting on her dress as I did with Brittany! I literally had tears streaming down my face while I was filming the process of getting her into her wedding dress in the hospitality suite at The Henry Clay; tears of laughter of course. But how many brides are willing to put a plastic bag over their heads to protect their make up and their dress; that is true dedication!
The Cathedral of the Assumption is such an impressive venue for a catholic wedding ceremony. With the beauty inside, there is very little you have to do because the church already looks amazing. The eucharist is very important for both Clay and Brittany. This was the first time we had seen this but they chose to be Eucharistic ministers at their own ceremony. It was so neat because Brittany and Clay had an opportunity to interact with their guests during the ceremony.
At The Henry Clay, Lloyd’s Florist had the room decorated with a purple and green theme, including green apples in the centerpieces and on the cake. You see, Clay proposed to Brittany in an apple orchard and they tied that into their decorating at the reception. Brittany and Clay wowed their family and friends with their first dance, complete with a dramatic dip at the end of the dance. If the amount of people on the dance floor is an indicator, Brittany and Clay’s wedding was a blast for everyone. It was a perfect way to celebrate an amazing wedding day and an amazing couple!

The Cathedral of the Assumption in downtown Louisville is such a beautiful location to have a catholic wedding ceremony. The cathedral was dedicated in 1852 and when you enter through the front doors, the experience can be breathtaking. The high vaulted ceilings are painted with blue paint and speckled with gold stars to give the impression of the heavens right over your head. This is the church where Alex and Scott selected to celebrate their wedding ceremony with their family and friends. The ceremony was made extra personal with the visiting priest they invited to marry them. Through his relationship with Alex and Scott, he was able to really personalize their ceremony, as you will hear in his words throughout their highlights film.
The reception was held at The Seelbach Hilton in the Medallion Ballroom, one block over and within walking distance. So we used the opportunity to get some footage with the couple on their way to the Seelbach and just outside their well known entrance. Fleur de Lis Events took care of all the decorating and flowers for the event and the room was stunning. Yellow is not a color that is often seen as the main wedding color, but Fleur di Lis made the room look gorgeous and I loved the yellow in the room; so elegant and pretty. The first dance is always a highlight of the wedding reception, but for this wedding, the parent dances were just as beautiful and emotional. Alex’s father led her around the dance floor to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with the skill of Fred Astaire and the guests were very impressed with their dance. When it was Scott’s turn to dance with his mother, they had prepared a special gift for Scott. Scott’s father had passed away and while he was dancing with his mother, he was presented with a guitar that had once belonged to his father. I can honestly say that I had a tear in my eye when filming this very intimate and special moment; it’s one I won’t soon forget.
